Despacito was first released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in 2017, and quickly became the top-streamed track within 6 months. It was a combination of pop and reggaeton which not only brought attention to Latin Music, but as well reggaeton. Billboard's Top 100 had four songs mostly in Spanish in 2016, compared to two in 2015. In 2017, at the peak of the popularity of Despacito 19, 19 songs mostly in Spanish were included in the Billboard Top 100. In 2020, it will have 41 hits in this category. Following Justin Bieber's bilingual remix of Despacito (2017) popular musicians soon started collaborating with reggaeton musicians, such as Drake with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna with Maluma on Medellin (2019). Certain reggaeton performers expressed their displeasure at the rise of mainstream music in the year 2020. However, a brand new band, Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the growth and evolution of reggaeton. It was often associated with electronic dance and other types.
